Hey Curlfriends! It's been a while.....whew ya girl has been busy and my computer is down :(
So with limited access right now I FINALLY found a chance to update you guys. On November 2nd I went on a 7 day cruise to Nassau Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. For the cruise I decided to really take a vacation from everything including HAIR and I opted for box braids. These SUCKAS are a little heavy but overall I love them. I've been keeping my hair moisturized with a mixture of sulfur 8 braid spray mixed with my regular hair mist of oil and water. I also apply oil to my scalp every 3-4 days. Just wanted to share a few of the styles I have been rockin!

Hey Curlfriends! Somehow I forgot to update you all on August 3rd when I removed my last set of Havana Twist.......Sorry "My Bad". After taking my hair down I just couldn't ignore the damage my hair was suffering. I'm still trying to determine the culprit but the damaged/split ends HAD TO GO! So I washed& deep conditioned my hair. Using my hair scissors I proceeded to cut all the raggedy, split, straight ends of my hair. I think I cut 1-1.5 inches around. It was all worth getting my hair back to it's luxurious days of great curls.

Pictured below are my curls today. Freshly washed and styled from a flat twist out. Since I trimmed my ends my hair has been thriving. I no longer have to use rollers at the end of my twist - my hair just curls up! My ultimate hair goal is to have healthy hair, but with healthy hair comes length. That's my dilemma - Length Retention. I need my length to stick around. My two year hair anniversary was in June and over these two years I've had growth, but I've also had to cut my hair more than I wanted to. 

So CHEERS to more great hair days! I decided to keep my regimen SIMPLE adding back one of my
go-to leave-ins during my transition: Cantu Shea Butter leave in. My hair is loving it! I've also added Eco Styler Custard to my regimen as my twist cream and I think I've found that ISH! My hair is loving this custard as a twist cream. My flat twist outs have been coming out like magic - so moisturized and defined. I've also decided to lay off the heavy use of combs and brushes. I'm doing more finger detangling :)

Happy Sunday Curlfriends! I'm still rocking my Havana twist - truly loving this
style! This weekend I washed and conditioned my hair and decided to pin up my
twist instead of just rocking in a bun. I pinned the front twist into a side
pompadour. Then I gathered the right side and back twist into one large braid -
pinning into place around the pompadour. I've gotten so many compliments today.

Hey Curlfriends! After one week with Havana Twist I think I'M IN LOVE! This style is so cute and stylish. I decided to take my hair down, deep condition, and redo my twist. This time instead of using gel I used Entwine Couture Crème De La Mold. When I initially used this product I must admit I gave it a horrible review :( BUT I must say this time around I used it correctly. It provided a strong hold, maximum control, and awesome shine to each twist.

Last Friday after watching a few YouTube videos, I decided on a style I've been eager to try......HAVANA TWIST!! I used 4 bags of Equal brand Marley braiding hair and it took me 4 hours to
complete. After I figured out which way to twist to get the hair secure, completing the style was a WRAP! See the slideshow below for step by step instructions and products used (Leave any questions in the comment box). I started on freshly washed, blown out hair.

This will definitely be a go-to protective style for me for summer and fall. Have you ever tried this style?

Here are a few styles I've been rockin

It's the weekend and it's looking like a fun and busy one! So I wanted a style that was cute, flirty, and no fuss..........SOOOOOOOO a side ponytail was a must! I created this style using 2 bags of 100% kankelon hair. I braided one bag into a large braid and the second bag I split into two and two-strand twisted. I wrapped the braided hair around my bun first, then the twisted hair. So easy to do - you must try it!

Gel used: Eco Styler gel with Moroccan Argan Oil (red top)

For the last few weekends my go to style has been the ponytail updo. Not only is it easy but its a great protective style for the spring/summer and it only cost me $3 to do! My bestie Myanna asked me to post some instructions on how I do it and I had to oblige. I just found this video and it's one of the best twist videos I've ever watched on YouTube. Shameless Maya is so entertaining and descriptive in what she is doing. She shows how to flat twist and 2 sttwist out. Take a look!

For Easter sunday I wanted to do something different with my hair. I pulled a dress out of the closet, but remembered the last time I wore it my hair was in a updo. I've been dying to try a updo using the Marley braid hair, so I ran to the hair store to pick some up. I love the texture of it - It looks so natural! I watched a few youtube videos for inspiration (my fav MsVaughnTV: Jamaican braid hair updo) and I WENT IN!

I started with freshly washed hair. I decided to make two ponytails to make the placement of the hair a little bit easier for me. I used Eco Styler gel with argan oil to pull my ponytails together. I then twisted my hair and secured it using a bobby pin. I wrapped my hair up with a scarf for 20 mins to help to lay my edges down. You want a secure base to start with :) Starting with the 1 pack of 100% kankaleon hair I two strand twisted it - securing a ponytail holder in the middle for use to easily attach to my ponytail. I started in the back and wrapped the braid hair around my ponytails to hid them.

Using 1 pack of Marley braid hair, I split it into two parts. The first part I two strand twisted, securing with a ponytail holder and pinned into the back right side of my hair. I began to place the hair going in a figure eight position - using bobby pins to secure. I took the second part of the marley hair, placing a rubber band on each end. I secured each side on the top ponytail, then twisted the hair and proceeded to pin and place how I wanted the front to look. It turned out great! This style was super easy and only took me 40 mins total.....that included 20 mins sitting with a scarf on my head.

As a naturalista we're always looking for ways to obtain heatless curls. Last year I discovered Curlformers and I must say they are the perfect way to obtain heatless curls or use to stretch your hair. I needed a break from twisting my hair so I decided to  break out the curlformers.

*Eco styler gel with argan oil
*66 medium curlformers (44 orange, 22 pink)
*Deluxe Softhood Hair dryer attachment by Curlformers (approximately 3hr drying time)
*Due to the Florida humidity my hair only lasted 2 days

I had the awesome opportunity to volunteer for a group of photographers as their model for the day. It was a great experience and so much fun! Being a model is HARD LOL! Here are a few pics from the photo shoot :) Enjoy!
